Career Education Program (CEP)

Studies are a journey, but a career is the destination. Our Career Education Program (CEP) aims to increase the ability of young people to define their career ambitions and select relevant career choices. It introduces young people to career options and enables them to identify and assess them in line with their job passions. The program helps students establish early the tangible relevance of the education they are receiving, the career they are pursuing and the world of work. This helps them choose their career path wisely, learn saleable employment skills that prepare them for full-time employment, making transition to work more attainable. CEP is delivered through school and after-school community programs.

Our Current Projects

Youth Career Track Project:

YCT intends to increase the future life chances of secondary school students in Uganda to transition from school to work by increasing their timely and early access to and utilization of career guidance information required to take informed career decisions. YCT strengthens school career departments by identifying and training school career counselors to offer appropriate career guidance to students. Career Counselors deliver a practical career preparation and work readiness course to students to enable them to identify, define and practice their career ambitions early and at the most critical and relevant career decision making time in their life.

Power of One Campaign project:

There are millions of young people in Uganda who cannot fulfill their passion because they lack a mentorship and support system to inspire them to diligently practice their passion and achieve their full potential. The power of one campaign inspires young people to use their passion to reach their goals. From music, dance, art, writing, and poetry, to shoe making, engineering, business and social entrepreneurship, we connect promising talented young people with mentors to nurture their talent and inspire them to the next level. Young people receive mentorship, career counselling, leadership training and exposure in the campaign.

Holiday career clinic project (HCC):

HCC builds future competitive and productive workers by giving 21st Century Career preparation skills to primary, secondary and University students during their scholastic term holidays. Through this clinic, students have an opportunity to escape future employment challenges. They speak to career mentors, set early smart career choices, learn public speaking and acquire self-confidence, understand careers in the world, select appropriate school subjects and courses, learn the world of work and be prepared for the job market. Through the clinic, young people are supported to discover the careers that interest them, and the skills, education and experience they need to get there. Using learner centered approaches like games, videos, photos, mock session, image theatre, drama and story-telling, the career clinic exposes young people to activities and projects that help them practice careers and experience jobs in a fun and unique way.
